Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory disorder that primarily affects several flexible synovial joints and in its progression, it affects many tissues and organs. These diseases produce an inflammatory intention around the synovial joints, by creating excess synovial fluids in the fibrous tissues. The scientific study and its causes show that Rheumatoid Arthritis leads to the friction of the joints and as a consequence they lead to the destruction to the ankylosis of joints and the articular cartilage. It is an autoimmune chronic disease where the patient’s own immune system attacks the body cells and the other organs. After several researches it has been found that several organs of the body come under the clutches of this RA. It manipulates several organs by producing some inflammation in the lungs, by forming nodules and membranes around heart, lungs, liver, kidney, etc. It is incurable but some causes estimated that virus and bacteria attacks the body’s own tissue. It forms some intermitted bouts called flares, which may be continuously active, and may get worse by time. Some patients may suffer from this disease though there may be no symptoms at all. If diagnosed early and by getting good treatment, a person may find himself into remission and may not find further joint destruction, organ damage, and some sort of disability.
Among total world population, 1 percent of them are reported to have afflicted by Rheumatoid Arthritis. Among them women are more prone to that of men and children. The popularity of the disease is restricted not only among men and women between the age group of 40 to 60 but also among the children within 6 months to 16 years of age. It leads to some condition like pain, inflammation, loss of function and mobility, and also disability. There are actually three conditional background of this disease. First condition is monocycline, which lasts for 2 to 5 years after its diagnosis and treatment. Second condition is polycycline, where the disease may come and go, depending over the course of condition. And thirdly there is a progressive condition, where the disease goes on increasing, by threatening a patient to mortality. There are several risk factors that cause Rheumatoid Arthritis, and popular among them are Genetic factor, and some Environmental Factor.
- Genetic Factor– Some genes like HLA class II genes, PTPN22 genes, etc plays a pivotal role, in having several autoimmune conditions.
- Environmental Factor– Some environmental factor like smoking, consuming alcohol, exposure to silica mineral, coal dust, and chronic periodontal diseases causes a high risk of developing Rheumatoid Arthritis.
As it is incurable, doctors may go for some treatment to provide relief from pain and further degradation of the disease. But before treatment its diagnosis is very important. Only after diagnosis, its aggressive treatment is possible, and it includes several blood tests like Rheumatoid Factor (RF) Test, Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) Test, Total Blood Count etc and several X-rays. Then comes its treatment which includes several drugs and steroids like NSAIDs, DMARDs and Costicosteroids.
