Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that primarily affects several flexible synovial joints and in its progression, it affects many tissues and organs. These diseases produce an inflammatory intention around the synovial joints, by creating excess synovial fluids in the fibrous tissues. The scientific study and its causes show that rheumatoid arthritis leads to the friction of the joints and as a consequence they lead to the destruction to the ankylosis of joints and the articular cartilage. It is an autoimmune chronic disease where the patient’s own immune system attacks the body cells and the other organs. After several researches it has been found that several organs of the body come under the clutches of this R A. It manipulates several organs by producing some inflammation in the lungs, by forming nodules and membranes around heart, lungs, liver, kidney, etc. Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia share some common symptoms.
In literally terms, etymology of the word fibromyalgia hailed from two different languages. The prefix, fibro means tissue in Latin and myo is muscle in Greek and algia or algos means pain. Symptoms like scattered body pain, tenderness, and fatigue are some noticeable symptoms associated with this chronic disease known as fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia doesn’t cause damage to the joints nor does it cause inflammation to tissues, joints, muscles etc. But it is often related with arthritis, but the fact of the matter is, it is just a joint disease. But fibromyalgia causes severe pain and fatigue just like arthritis. It can severely dent a person’s ability to perform daily routine and activities. Similar to arthritis it is related as a rheumatic condition.
The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown like any other auto immune disease, but still now it is not considered as an auto immune condition. Some sort of trauma or mental blockage can trigger this disease. There is serious debate regarding the actual cause of the disease, many think repetitions in accidents or injuries might be a cause, others refers it simply a spontaneous cause. Many scientists think some prolonged illness can ignite the disease. Genetical factor along with the role of central nervous system and the process of stimulation may not be a neglected reason.
Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia can be identified with laboratory testing and it is easy to discriminate between the two. Many features can be identical in nature and might be misleading too. Pain, morning stiffness, and fatigue are commonly associated with both the diseases. F M can’t lead to R A, it’s a widely proven fact, in fact researches believe R A might be influential in triggering fibromyalgia. Proper diagnosis is very much needed to combat both this chronic disease. As symptoms are pretty similar with each other prognosis factor is difficult to gauge by a physician. With the first sign of the symptoms related to any of these, one must not wait any time, and should seek doctor’s advice immediately.
